Clinical Simulations During 2027
Allowances to take the Clinical Simulation Exam in 2027

Although it is well known that clinical simulations end in 2026, there are some exceptions. For respiratory therapists who take and pass (at the higher cut score) the TMC (therapist multiple choice exam) by December 31st, 2026, they will be given the choice to take the Clinical Simulation Exam (CSE) in 2027, OR the new Respiratory Therapy Exam (RTE). The permission to take the CSE exam will persist for 12 months following the passing at the high cut score of the TMC exam.

NBRC 2027 preparations are already underway and available now

As of this Thursday, April 24th, LindseyJones is uploading a new database of TMC questions to LindseyJones University. These are changes that can be made now, before 2027. They remain centered on the current NBRC content area outline, but reflect updates to explanations, verbiage, clinical practices, and others. Collectively, the new TMC questions reflect over 20,000 changes, 860 retired questions, and the addition of hundreds of new ones. More to come. RT teaching institutions will have the same access to the FORM TMC exams to which they are already accustomed, but as much as 30% of the content on those exams have changed.

Even though the NBRC 2027 exam format change is many months away, LindseyJones is making changes now. Our several-thousand-question database of TMC questions are going through a thorough review. Over 20,000 changes have already been made. More than 860 questions have been retired, and over 1000 new analysis questions are being written. The first of these changes will be uploaded at the end of April of this year (2025). Get ready for a great improvement.
